“You must not ever stop being whimsical. And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.”
–Mary Oliver, Wild Geese

“All I can say about live is, Oh God enjoy it!”
–Bob Newhart

“The ideas that you have involving the nature of reality will strongly color your [after-death] experiences, for you will interpret them in the light of your beliefs, even as you now interpret daily life according to your ideas of what is possible or not possible….A belief hellfires can cause you to hallucinate Hades’ conditions. A belief in a stereotyped heaven can result in a hallucination of heavenly conditions. You always form your own reality according to your ideas and expectations. This is the nature of consciousness in whatever reality it finds itself Such hallucinations, I assure you, are temporary.”
–Seth, in Jane Roberts’s Seth Speaks

“What is meant by light? To gaze with undimmed eyes on all darkness.”

“The old tree is very wise, it sees that much of the world’s business is foolishness… I always find a more cheerful atmosphere, and a more sensitive aspect to my folly, under the shadow of this friend of mine.”

“Non-aggression doesn’t mean that you’re not supposed to get angry; it doesn’t mean that you’re not supposed to set boundaries; it doesn’t mean that you’re not supposed to be sharp; it doesn’t mean that you don’t have neurotic upheavals and meltdowns. What it does mean is that we have to keep letting go – until we are naked with ourselves, and we are making room for the person we actually are. And it’s the exact same process with other people. We have to let go, let go, let go . . . Until we see and we are seen.”
–Reggie Ray

“I like to lie against the earth and whisper to it my sorrows, my prayers.”

–Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Look not in awe upon the famous, for though they be celebrated stars among humanity, their lights are but external raiments.”
–Mary Summer Rain

“I am a student of life just trying to learn how the universe works. The most powerful lesson I have learned is that it all happens inside me. My perception of any situation is in my control — I have a choice about which way my mind will react.”

  1. There are so many great quotes here that it is almost mind-numbing to try to read them all at once, but a favorite for the moment is John Muir’s “When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe,”perhaps because I’m reading Joan Halifax’s The Fruitful Darkness at the moment.

I still cannot or have yet not come up with a way to correct this issue. Today, I remembered the pagination article that WordPress did. I added in the code to create pages. Please let me know if you have any suggestion that might be better. It’s hard for me to organize or categorize that is PERFECT. Forcing one quote into one way of thinking smashes up against my method of cross referencing (the ultimate correct one that I do not have–yet) lol!

  2. Great quotes indeed, thoughts to remember, words to read again and write in one’s journal. Thank you Elisa.
